About Throwback Thursdays: In February of last year, there were merely 400 events created in Social Tables. Fast forward 12 months and that number had skyrocketed to 12,000. In recognition of those customers we have created a new series entitled Throwback Thursdays: A Look at Our Favorite Events from the Social Tables Vault to showcase those clients who have created exceptional diagrams with our software.

Client: The Jefferson Hotel

Event from the Vault: A Sweet Sixteen at the Jefferson

Take a Look: The Jefferson in Richmond, Virginia, has been welcoming guests since it’s opening day on Halloween of 1895.  Boasting 262 guest rooms and suites which feature several different styles that fit the tastes of any guest.  The Jefferson’s function space is warm and welcoming, which attracts clients looking for intimate affairs and grand events alike.  With 26,000 square-feet of available function space, you can choose to have your event in the original Grand Ballroom, the opulent Rotunda or the James River Conference Center to name a few.

weddings_main_04Ashton Hassan, the Catering Sales Manager, knows her clients expect perfection when having their events at the Jefferson. Given their reputation for impeccable service, they have consistently been rated the best hotel in Richmond, having served the likes of President Obama, both Roosevelts (Theodore and Franklin Delano), and Elvis Presley.

The goal for any event at The Jefferson is to delight their clients and make the planning process as easy and collaborative as possible.  The Convention Services staff is dedicated to the details and also serves as liaisons for their clients in coordinating photography, ground transportation, and scavenger hunts as well as many other services.

exterior-dayWhat inspired us to focus on the Sweet 16 event in particular was Ashton’s use of text boxes and custom shapes to represent the buffet setup, note details such as the rolling gift table, and indicate times for each of the food stations.  The flow of the food and beverage stations was very important in making this event a success and was the key to the client’s happiness.  Being that there were many moving parts and different components to the buffet stations and setups, having these tools made it easy to bring this event to life.

Ashton finds that working with the Social Tables program gives her the ability to customize the diagram as needed, and having tools such as the templates allowed her to lay the tables down quickly so she could spend more time focusing on the set-up of the food.  Also, Social Tables made communication a breeze as she was able to clearly represent on the diagram the details for her banquet staff as well as for the audio visual team.

This event was truly a “sweet” party and we are fortunate to work with great customers such as Ashton and the staff at The Jefferson to help achieve their event objectives!
